Men’s Ministries
What Time Is It? It’s Breakfast
Time
Where? Fellowship Hall
When? Saturday, June 20, 2009
What Time? 8:00am.
“
What good is it for a man to gain the whole world,
yet forfeit his soul?”
Mark 8:36 NIV
Twenty-five men attended the Men’s Ministries Breakfast on
Saturday, May 16, 2009. Herb Rimmer and Bob Olson provided an excellent
breakfast. Herb and Bob never receive the recognition and thanks
that they deserve. Thank you both for being a major part of the
Men’s Ministry.
Ken Hedstrom started us out after breakfast with a great song, “How
Great Thou Art”. Les Lewis read us a great devotional and
also had the sector leaders that were present give a short report
on “Operation Breakout”. Also, an “Amazing Grace”
video was played honoring our military. It surely touched the heart
of every man present.
We didn’t have a guest speaker at the breakfast, but we all
shared our hearts with each other. Each man told where he was born,
why he had moved to Yuma, and from a list that Paul had written
in Romans 12:9-21, what we each needed to do the most to have a
closer relationship with our Lord. Thank you all for being so open
and willing to share your feelings with your fellow Christian brothers.
Our next Men’s Ministries Breakfast will be on Saturday, June
20th, 2009. Thank you for supporting and sharing with your brothers
here at Morningside.
A workday was completed by the men on Saturday, May 9th for a neighbor
of Bob Olson. At least ten men came and helped rebuild a front porch
deck. After the work was done, Bob treated us with his great tasting
ribs. I won’t mention any names, but some of the men had massive
piles of ribs in front of them.
Remember to bring a friend, relative or co-worker with you next
month and come share some good times with the Lord.
Continue to pray for our security team and Operation Breakout.
Thank you,
Bill Dennis
LORD,
OPEN MY EYES THAT I MAY SEE TRUTH
AND MY EARS TO HEAR TRUTH,
OPEN MY HEART TO RECEIVE IT BY FAITH.
RENEW MY MIND TO KEEP IT IN HOPE.
SURRENDER MY WILL THAT I MAY LIVE IT
WITH LOVE. |

Women’s Ministries
W.O.W.
- Women of Worship
The W.O.W. “Mother
and Daughter Tea” was held on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Linda
Henry was our food hostess. She provided many different finger foods
that were pretty to look at and delicious to eat. Maggie Kipp and
Jennifer Kooistra provided us with some beautiful music. Joan Orcutt
introduced our speaker, Arleta Thompson. Arleta’s daughter,
Autumn Thompson, is a missionary in India . She spoke to us from
a mother’s heart about how the Lord has helped her to cope
with the worry for her daughter as she is in a very dangerous area.
She shared a lot about the area. A very interesting and inspiring
presentation. Linda Henry led us in games that were enjoyed by all.
Judy Noble gave our devotional that was both interesting and a real
blessing. We closed in prayer and song. We had 50 ladies in attendance.
Our next W.O.W. breakfast will be held on June 6, 2009. Our theme
will be “Celebration Fathers”. Connie Rimmer will be
our breakfast hostess. Diana Coulter will bring us the music. Judy
Noble will give the devotional and Joan Orcutt will present the
mission report. The program will be interesting to all. The prayer
and praise time at W.O.W. is a very special time of sharing and
fellowship. Come and join us and share in the blessings.
Our W.O.W. bible study meets every Thursday at 1:00pm. We are going
thru Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life” taking
one day a week. We have a discussion following that has been a blessing
to us all. Come and join us. We meet in the Conference Room, (next
to the pastor’s office).
We’re looking forward to seeing you all at the breakfast.

“HOT From The Kitchen!!!”
PRAISE GOD! What a great
turn out for May’s “New Member Appreciation Luncheon.”
We had a full house and everyone seemed to enjoy the food and fellowshipping.
The youth were able to raise another $175.00 for their summer camp
fund, by auctioning off gift baskets. Thank you all who participated
and I want to THANK everyone who stayed and helped Joan Orcutt with
the clean up.
Be watching for the special Luncheon on June 7th. This will be a
special luncheon for the youth to try and raise the final amount
of money needed for them ALL to go to summer camp this year. We
will be serving: Spaghetti, Garlic Bread, Salad and a dessert. Mark
your calendars for this very special luncheon right after church
services on June 7th. Bring your family and friends.
June’s “New Member Luncheon” will be on the fourth
Sunday, instead of the 3rd Sunday due to Fathers Day being on the
21st. We have to say a sad farewell to the “Kooistra Family”
as they prepare to leave in June for Scott’s new assignment.
We wish you all God’s Blessings. Scott, the Kitchen Team will
miss you vacuuming up the fellowship hall after the meals. We will
miss each and every one of you. You have touched our hearts in a
very special way and we wish you the best.
It is hard to believe that we are half way through this year already
and after June there are only four more “New Member Luncheons”
left for this year. In October we will be serving the Thanksgiving
Meal after church services, so that the Kitchen Team can enjoy their
Thanksgiving with their families this year. You won’t want
to miss it, so plan on bringing you family and friends to church
that day and stay for a very special “Thanksgiving Meal.”
I would like once again to THANK everyone for their support of this
TEAM. Without your support we would not be able to have this fellowship
time. Thanks to all of our church family.
GOD BLESS, Linda and her “KITCHEN AND CLEAN UP TEAMS”

NEW MEMBER LUNCHEON CALENDAR
Our next Luncheon will be June 28, bring the whole family and friends.

The
Young Adult Ministry Bible Study meets on Friday nights - 6:00pm
at Barnes and Noble cafe. We are currently doing Bible Studies on
Experiencing God and plan to do an in depth Bible Study on what
love is according to God from immature love to agape. This Ministry
is a dynamic ministry with a website (coming soon) to help develop
young adults into leaders at Morningside. Please continue praying
for how God is leading this ministry and the new challenges that
He is giving me and the group. The new phase of this ministry is
mentoring, which is very challenging, but I know God will lead me.
The goals of the Young Adult Ministry are: having 10-20 people meet
on a regular basis, development of a prayer group, and have multiple
leaders being involved in mentoring young Christians.
