Six Elements or Prayer from "HOW TO GROW IN CHRIST"
by Dr. Darrell Robinson
A - Adoration

Tell God you love Him. Praise Him for his attributes and characteristics. How about love, patience, justice, dependability, holiness, power, understanding, availability, creator, comforter; to start with.

Read or sing the words of a praise hymn.

C - Confession   Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart.
Confess every sin. Get specific. Name the sin. Follow the scriptures guidance in making restitution if the sin is against another person.
T - Thanksgiving "in everything give thanks . . ." 1 Thess 5:18
Thank God for physical, material, and spiritual blessings. Thank Him for others, even the problems. God permits problems to confront us with our need so that we may look to Him as the source of supply for every need.
Phil 4:19
S - Supplication   Ask God for what you need.
Phil 4:6; James 4:2; Matt 7:7-8

Ask God in behalf of others.
James 5:16
S - Surrender   "Your will be done." Matt 6:10
Search out God's will and submit to HIm.
S - Silence   Listen to God speak to you.

Seven Realities of Experiencing God from "EXPERIENCING GOD"
by Henry Blackaby
God's Work   God is always at work around you.
Relationship   God pursues a continuing love relationship with you that is real and personal.
Invitation God invites you to become involved with Him in His work.
God Speaks   God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.
Crisis of Belief   God's invitation for you to work with Him always leads you to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action.
Adjust   You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what He is doing.
Obey and Experience   You come to know by experience as you obey Him, and He accomplishes His work through you.

God, grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace,
Taking, as He did, the sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it.

Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.

LETTING GO

To "let go." does not mean to stop caring,
it means I can't do it for someone else.
To "let go" is not to cut myself off,
  it's the realization I can't control another.
To "let go" is not to enable,
but to allow learning from natural consequences.
To "let go" Is to admit powerlessness,
which means the outcome is not in my hands.
To "let go" Is not to try to change or blame another,
it's to make the most of myself.
To "let go" is not to care for,
  but to care about.
To "let go" Is not to fix,
  but to be supportive.
To "let go" Is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.
To "let go" Is not to be in the middle of arranging all the outcomes,
but to allow others to affect their own destinies.
To "let go" Is not to be protective,
it's to permit another to face reality.
To "let go" Is not to deny,
  but to accept.
To "let go" Is not to nag, scold or argue,
but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
To "let go" Is not to adjust everything to my desires
but to take each day as it comes, and cherish myself in it.
To "let go" is not to regret the past,
but to grow and live for the future.
To "let go" is to fear less and love more.

Our Journey

Faith is not just believing facts about Jesus.
"You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that – and shudder." (James 2:19)
Faith is trusting in Jesus.
It's like taking a trip on an airplane. You will never make the trip until you trust the plane enough
to board it.
Three important questions:
Does what you have been reading make sense to you?
Is there any reason you would not be willing
to receive God's gift of eternal life?
Are you willing to place your faith in Jesus right now and turn from your sin?
The Bible says, "For, 'Everyone who calls on the
name of the Lord will be saved.' "
(Romans 10: 13)
You need to ask the Lord Jesus to save you.
Read this prayer and see if it says what you
want to say to God.

Dear God, I know that Jesus is Your Son, and that He died on the cross and was raised from the dead-I know I have sinned and need forgiveness. I am willing to turn from my sins and receive Jesus as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Call on the Lord in repentance and faith, using these or similar words of your own; and Jesus will become your savior and Lord.

Welcome to the family of God. If you sincerely prayed this prayer, you have just made the most important decision of your life. You can be sure you are saved and have eternal life.

As you begin your new journey.
It is important to realize that Jesus wants to do more then just reside in your life. He wants to be Lord of your life.

The Bible says, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified,
and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:9-10)

Confessing Jesus as Lord means trusting Him to direct our lives.
Trusting Jesus to direct our lives is like driving down the highway with another person. As long as you are driving, you are in charge. If you realize you don't know the way, but the other person does, you might say, "You take the wheel and drive." Then the other person is in charge and the two of you take the route he or she chooses.
As evidence of confessing Jesus as Lord, you will want to identify with Him.
The New Testament way of identification is to confess Jesus publicly (Matthew 10:32-33) and to follow
Him in baptism and church membership (Acts 2:41)
Your Assurance ...
You know you have eternal live because: God keeps His promises.
You repented of your sin (Acts 3:19)
You placed your faith in Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9)
God heard your prayer.
"For, 'Every one who calls on the name of the
Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)
God recored your commitment. "Rejoice that you names are written in heaven." (Luke 10:20)
You need to grow as a Christian.
The Bible calls new Christians "babes in Christ"
(1 Corinthians 3:1) Without certain essentials,
babies will not develop normally.
The church is to the new Christian what the home
and family are to a baby.
You identify with your new family by confessing Jesus publicly and by experiencing believer's baptism. "Those who accepted his message were baptized,
and about three thousand were added to their number that day." (Acts 2:4)
Attend church Sunday and share with the pastor that you want to be baptized and become a member of the church.
Praying is to spiritual life what breathing is to physical life.
Breathing must be regular and continuous. The Bible says, "Pray continually"
( I Thessalonians 5:17)
Learn to be specific in your praying, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
God's word is to a new Christian what good food is to a baby.
Good food is a daily requirement for proper growth. "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation." (1 Peter 2:2)
My best time for daily prayer and Bible reading is morning, noon and night.
Learning to witness is to a new Christian what learning to talk is to a baby.
Christ commands us to share the good news with others. "You will be my witnesses." (Acts 1:8)
Tell someone you know will be happy to learn about your decision for Christ.
Tell someone who needs to receive Christ about your decision.
Tips for the new believer
There is an enemy. Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and to kill and destroy." (John 10:10) Satan could not stop you from receiving Christ, so now he will try to keep you from becoming a happy, effective follower of Christ. Expect his opposition.
But you have a friend. "There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24) Jesus said' "Surly I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)
With Christ you are a winner! "The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." (1 John 4:4)
